Livejournal
LiveJournal decided that it made really excellent business sense to redesign their site. In doing so, they removed subject lines, added a full size icon browse feature, and changed how comment links worked.
Truly an excellent design, full of useful and helpful things to make using the site easier, and value-added. Bravo.

Tennessee Senate Has Passed Don’t Say Gay Bill | Gay Blog, Gay Friendly, Gay News
Tennessee Senate Has Passed Don’t Say Gay Bill | Gay Blog, Gay Friendly, Gay News.
So instead of being concerned over the fact that grocery bills and gas prices have risen while jobs have yet to recover, the state Senators have decided to control how people speak.
Absolutely brilliant, Tennessee. Let us be scared to utter the word gay while children go hungry in dark houses because their parents cannot get a job to pay their basic bills.

Was He Worth It?
I woke up this morning to new that Osama bin Laden was confirmed dead. Were his and Saddam’s deaths worth the trillion plus debt, the choice to prioritize war spending over helping people have homes, jobs and food, and all the men and women who have died for what? To hunt someone down? Wow. I am impressed.
9/11, I was picking up my paycheck from the nursing home and my daughter had just turned nine months old the day before. We were both babies since I was 21 at the time.
Now, I am considered to be one of the lucky ones to have a house and a job, and yet, it is really hard to keep up with the bills even with two people working.
I don’t think he was worth it in the end.

Good Lord, California
Hunter: Deport U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants
So many things wrong with that idea, i don’t even know where to begin. Someone not paying attention in class, someone letting their idealogy blind them to reality, and general ignorance to start off with.

Outrage in California
Expert: Invalid Warrant Used in Raid on iPhone Reporter’s Home | Threat Level | Wired.com
I am shocked, and frankly appalled that anyone would have their home searched and things confiscated over a story reported in the news.

Ah Small Minded People
There is a ‘gentleman’ in Sweetwater who believes that President Obama is not a citizen of the US and as such is unfit to be President. He believes this so much that he has attempted to have the grand jury hear his case twice now, both times denied as not having any grounds.
I saw earlier today that apparently he attempted to arrest the grand jury foreman for preventing him him from presenting his case to the grand jury and instead was arrested.
Rather appropriate result, I say, as he has absolutely no grounds for his claims.

Okay, Really
The Revision Thing | The Texas Tribune
Revising history to to suit some strange ideal is really, really idiotic. Cutting out important Supreme Court decisions and Presidents just because they do not follow your ideal? Let alone the important things women and people of color have done in America?
Truly a way to get our children ahead in this world.

Hope
I write this at 11:36 AM on January 20th, 2009. In 24 minutes, Barack Obama will be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States. I am hopeful that he will make a difference. What a wonderful gift to the world, hope, hope that things will change, will be better.

Some Reading This Morning
This post sums up some of the points to ponder re: Sarah Palin and her being chosen as VP by John McCain.
Just because someone is a woman, does not mean that I, as a woman, should vote for her. I vote based on ideas, not on skin color or gender. And if that makes all the difference to you as to what set of genitals someone has or what color someone is, then, really, I have no sympathy for your plight.

Ladies, Really.
Shakesville: Get your Bingo cards ready!
I thought that Wil’s original post was funny. Am I bad feminist for thinking that honestly, there should be somebody telling Sen. Clinton about the law of diminishing returns? I would love to have a woman President in the Oval Office, just not Sen. Clinton.
I want new ideas, not genitalia to determine who I’m voting for.
