American ISPs to launch massive copyright spying scheme on July 12 | The Raw Story.

Oh, now that is ridiculous. I am utterly disgusted by these businesses taking money from groups devoted to protecting their interests at the cost of sharing information and making it easier for people to consume that precious media they are protecting, protecting so hard that they’re cutting out people who will pay money to experience.

Livejournal

LiveJournal decided that it made really excellent business sense to redesign their site. In doing so, they removed subject lines, added a full size icon browse feature, and changed how comment links worked.

Truly an excellent design, full of useful and helpful things to make using the site easier, and value-added. Bravo.

Tennessee Senate Has Passed Don’t Say Gay Bill | Gay Blog, Gay Friendly, Gay News.

So instead of being concerned over the fact that grocery bills and gas prices have risen while jobs have yet to recover, the state Senators have decided to control how people speak.

Absolutely brilliant, Tennessee. Let us be scared to utter the word gay while children go hungry in dark houses because their parents cannot get a job to pay their basic bills.

Was He Worth It?

I woke up this morning to new that Osama bin Laden was confirmed dead. Were his and Saddam’s deaths worth the trillion plus debt, the choice to prioritize war spending over helping people have homes, jobs and food, and all the men and women who have died for what? To hunt someone down? Wow. I am impressed.

9/11, I was picking up my paycheck from the nursing home and my daughter had just turned nine months old the day before. We were both babies since I was 21 at the time.

Now, I am considered to be one of the lucky ones to have a house and a job, and yet, it is really hard to keep up with the bills even with two people working.

I don’t think he was worth it in the end.

Self-education

I’ve restarted my self-education project by hitting up iTunes U, and also getting a Great Books reading list together.

Critical Reasoning for Beginners

I need to find a good basic algebra course and I’ve been collecting links for other subjects to read/learn.

Now of course this isn’t all at once, but I do plan on studying one thing daily.

Revamp

I’ll be revamping the fanfic recommendations pages as well as adding some new content in the next months. I’m planning on also redoing the theme and updating the plugins I use for the site as well.

Blargh

Apologies for the ugly for a bit. I had to disable all my plugins and theme in order to find out which one borked my install of WordPress. Bless Dreamhost Support.

She works but is very plain at the moment.
